DigSigs
Secure. Verifiable. Trusted.
Our solution for secure, instant verification and data integrity – anytime, anywhere. Digital signatures offer protection against tampering and guarantee transparency, both online and offline.

Physical Signatures. Digitally Embodied.
Digital signatures are used wherever authentication, tamper detection, and accountability are required. As a form of cryptography, they demonstrate that, for example, the information on a document is unique, genuine, and not forged. Asymmetric cryptographic mechanisms are used as specified by the ITU X.509 standard, which is also used by web servers and in financial transactions.
The standardized data construct is called a DigSig and is stored in many barcodes and RFID tags used in open trade worldwide. DigSigs can be used to verify and provide information about items, goods, or other objects and their attributes, both online and offline. The main objective is to detect counterfeits and securely transfer attributes.
Proven Trust.
The technical method of digital signatures and DigSigs has proven itself over the years: The process involves two keys. A private key is kept secret by the party issuing the digital signature. A second, derived public key is required for verification, which is certified and distributed by an independent and trustworthy third party using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and the related X.509 standard for certificates. This method is used for all secure, online communication by banks and financial institutions.
DigSigs are specified as a data construct by ISO/IEC 20248. This standard outlines the data structures, the underlying methods for writing, reading, and verification, and how keys are encoded and decoded. DigSigs are also defined as an application of the X.509 standard. Find out more.

“Digital signatures, and therefore DigSigs, are a tried and tested technology that benefit primarily from the encryption methods used and the procedures employed to manage keys. This is why web server operators and financial systems rely on this system. At TÖNNJES, we use DigSigs successfully throughout the entire lifecycle of licence plates controlled by authorities: from globally organised production, distribution, and personalisation to issuance and return.“
Where Are Digital Signatures Used?
DigSigs are the first choice when you want to establish accountability, detect data manipulation, and ensure data integrity in environments with limited connectivity. In other words, wherever an object is identified, specific actions are subsequently required, and the data on the respective data carrier must be trusted immediately. Here, we show you how this can look in practice:

Building Identification System (BIS)
Buildings in urban and rural areas are assigned a type of license plate. Data related to the building, its construction, and other factors can be accessed via DigSigs. This system provides several advantages: relief efforts can be more effectively implemented in the event of disasters, illegal constructions become nearly impossible, and inspection processes are easier to manage. Additionally, the technology enhances socio-economic factors such as the efficiency of postal services.

Digital Wallet
Personal information about an individual is digitally signed and can be verified both online and offline. This allows government authorities, for instance, to authenticate a person‘s identity, while companies can use
the system to verify customers or employees. This application is also suitable for the transfer of personal, financial, or legal documents, such as those needed for job placements, credit agencies, or brokerage portals.

EU Digital Product Passport
The design, origin, recyclability, and other useful information about a product are managed by the EU Digital Product Passport (DPP). The digital signature on each product provides access to all important data records. The information is based on standards in an interoperable format, contributing to a sustainable and circular economy.
